As a dog mom, I am constantly looking for information on being a better dog owner. It was especially tricky when we first got our girls since it felt like there was very little information out there for new dog owners, especially large dogs. Some of the best information we got was from books at our local library, which was unfortunately…written in the early 90s about Alaskan Malamutes and other large breed dogs. Today, I feel like things are even worse, with so much conflicting information out there on the internet to confuse new dog owners. Wouldn’t it be great if there was an easy, straight forward book on dog ownership? Recently, I learned about a new book designed for dog owners of all experience levels – The Meaning of Woof: What Your Dog Really Thinks. Hearing that the book contained great information and beautiful photography, I couldn’t wait for my copy to arrive in the mail!

The Meaning of Woof: Our Thoughts
When my ARC (advanced reader copy) of this book arrived, I honestly couldn’t wait to start reading. I freely admit, though, I didn’t really start reading at first but going through all the stunning pictures. All of the photography in the book is beautiful and appropriate, giving you an idea of life with dogs of various breeds and ages. To my delight, the pictures weren’t just amazing but the information itself. Best of all, the book had topics that I felt were perfect for dog owners of all experience levels, including details on most breeds, what your vet wishes you knew, reading body language, and how to understand your dog’s needs better. Best of all, the information is backed with research, making The Meaning of Woof: What Your Dog Really Thinks a fantastic book for any dog owner.
