Do you love S’more type desserts? I will freely admit s’mores are some of my absolute favorite desserts! While my husband isn’t a fan of marshmallows, this is one of those few desserts I will go out of my way to make for myself. I must eat in moderation since I know I will be the only one to eat any marshmallow-based dessert. However, if I go into trouble to make something for myself, I want to ensure it is worth the trouble. One of the best ways to have it is not to take a lot of my time and give me a dessert that is worth the extra calories (it is worth it after gardening outside in this heat). Of course, this means making a no-bake, easy-to-prepare dessert like a S’more Lush!
So, what exactly is a lush? Don’t worry; we aren’t talking about your drunk relative or even a dessert that includes anything alcoholic. We aren’t even talking about something you smoke (promise). This is an old-timey dessert, older than our modern-day slang. A lush is an old-school, no-bake layered dessert that usually has a pressed-in crumb crust, a pudding filling, and whipped cream. That’s it. It is a very easy-to-make dessert that was very popular at summer gatherings or local potlucks. While my mom wasn’t a Southerner, I grew up with many local friends and family making these for gatherings here in Kentucky. Maybe it is just a southern thing?
Anyways, this yummy s’more dessert is everything you need to satisfy your s’more craving without having to make a campfire. It is a graham cracker crust, marshmallow fluff, and a delightful Hersey’s chocolate, making it the perfect dessert to cool you off on a hot summer day. The worst part of the dessert is waiting for it to finish congealing in the fridge overnight. We promise it is worth the wait, and no one will know that you spent less than thirty minutes making this delightful no-bake dessert! This is an especially great dessert for a summer BBQ or pool party. Just don’t expect to bring home any leftovers since kids love it!
