Are you someone who loves a good party game? While we don’t get the chance to play them as much as I like, my husband and I have a large collection of card games and board games. I especially have a love for card games that can be played with just the two of us or when we have a large gathering. Everyone out of our friends loves party games, too, but the biggest issue we have is that almost all of us have the same games (except for the ones who are part of game subscription services). As someone who loves party games and music, I was excited when I got a chance to check out a complimentary copy of a brand new music-themed party game – Hitster!
Hitster Party Game: What Is It
Are you someone who loves music from various decades? Test your knowledge of music throughout the last 100 Years with Hitster The Music Party Game. In these games, players scan a card from the free app and get a chance to figure out where one of 300 songs fits on the music timeline. Players scan a card from the app and take turns guessing the release date, artist name,e and song title to build a music timeline. Whoever is the first to build a timeline of 10 songs wins! Check out the video below to learn more.
Our Thoughts
After going through this game, I must admit it is challenging but fun. I thought of myself as a music lover and someone who knew quite a bit of music trivia. This party game taught me I was wrong. There were so many artists I didn’t know, and I was sometimes off by five years on some of the times songs came out (others I thought were far newer, not nearly as old as me – ouch). When one of us got one right, it got a lot of cheers, and some had us giggling at just how wrong we were (especially songs we should have known).
While the playing of the game was easy, the technical side is something that people need to know before purchasing. You do have to have a smartphone with enough room to download the Hitster app. You don’t have to have a Spotify account to play the songs, but a premium account does help if you want to hear more of the song. Just using the free version of the app gives a small snippet, making guessing the song’s name a bit more challenging. For testing, we did not sign into our premium version of Spotify and played just using the free version. It worked well, and all features of the game worked flawlessly. I think Hitster is a great party game for anyone who loves music and wants to test their knowledge of various musical genres.
