Do you love learning about different parts of the world and new experience? Personally, I like reading about people’s different experiences, especially mixed in with other interesting information. It is something I have been seeing as a lot more common with cookbooks lately, making them far more interesting in my own eyes. Not to say that cookbooks aren’t interesting to leaf through and discover new things, but when recipes come with stories, it is sometimes far more meaningful. My guess is I like it because many of the recipes that are handed down in my family come with their own stories, sometimes from adventure, others from travelling. With how much I love these type of cookbooks, I was excited when I had the opportunity to review a new cookbook that sounded interesting and fun – First We Surf Then We Eat: Recipes From a Lifetime of Surf Travel by Jim Kempton. Once it arrived, I couldn’t wait to start reading through this cookbook.
First We Surf Then We Eat: What Is It?

First We Surf Then We Eat: Our Thoughts
I will freely admit, I quickly fell in love with this cookbook. It is more than just a cookbook since it is filled with different information about the writers travel, as well as amusing stories. Of course, the best part, in my mind, is the food. There are so many recipes paired with gorgeous food pictures. This book is very much ‘food porn’ for foodies. Since there are numerous cultural recipes, it really has something for everyone, making First We Surf Then We Eat: Recipes From a Lifetime of Surf Travel a great cookbook for adding new recipes for your family, or for entertaining.
