How many of you have plans this weekend? If you live in or near the Cincinnati area, don’t forget there is a lot of awesome things going on this weekend in the area. Not only do we have Oktoberfest, but those who love to run have an exciting event this weekend – the 8th Annual Panerathon 5K/10K to Fight Hunger on Sunday, September 20 at the Deerfield Towne Center Panera Bread location (5095 Deerfield Blvd. in Mason, Ohio). This fun event includes :
- 5K Run (sponsored by Kroger) at 9 AM ($35 for adults; $30 for kids & seniors)
- 10k Run (sponsored by Kroger) at 9 AM ($50 for adults; $35 for kids & seniors)
- 5K Walk at (sponsored by Panera) at 9:05 AM ($35 for adults; $30 for kids & seniors)
- Free Panerathon Kids Fun Run (sponsored by Panera) at 10:15 AM
All courses begin and end at the Deerfield Towne Center in the parking lot behind Panera Bread and will wind through local neighborhood streets.
Want to know the best part? Well behaved, leashed dogs are also allowed, allowing you to bring your furry friend to take part in the race or watch other adults and kids run! Don’t forget too that all proceeds benefit the Shared Harvest Foodbank, in partnership with Mason Food Pantry.
If you aren’t in running shape, don’t worry, Panera Bread encourages competitors of all ages and ability to participate in this fun charity run. Everyone who registers will receive a Dri-Fit event t-shirt (while supplies last), goody bag, fun for the entire family and a post-race expo complete with refreshments, compliments of PaneraBread.
Top race finishers will be awarded a gift card from Panera Bread and the top 10K and 5K run/walk finishers in each age division receive medals and a fresh Panera French Baguette. Children 10-and-under participating in the Panerathon Kids Fun Run receive a t-shirt, race bib, medal and more. As racers cross the finish line, Panera Bread’s fresh bagels, pastries and sandwiches will be available, as well as entertainment provided by Q102 WKRQ-FM.
Last year, approximately 1,200 Panerathon participants gathered at this race to raise funds for those in need throughout our community. This year, Panera hopes to increase both in attendance and in participation by attracting approximately 1,500 walkers and runners from all over the Tri-state area and beyond, to raise at least $40,000 to benefit hunger relief through Shared Harvest Foodbank and Mason Food Pantry. Last year, a total of $37,000 was raised. As well, for every $1 donated through the Cincinnati Panerathon, sponsoring agencies will provide eight meals to neighborhoods throughout our community.
Want to register? Make sure to do so today or Saturday since on race day registration fees will increase $10 per person. As well, there are discounts for team of more than 10 who pre-register for the race! To learn more and register for this event, head over to www.Panerathon.com!

I don’t think I’d make it. I would start out jogging and fade fast. I’d probably walk most of the way. It’s for a good cause though.

I love all the event that go on to help worthy causes. I think it’s fantastic if a person participates in these events and helps others. I have done a couple events but not walking or running due to asthma and other health problems but I love when I can help people.
