Do you love peach cobbler? For my own family, nothing says summer like peaches. We have been quite lucky the last few years, having homegrown peaches in our yard. It took many years for our lovely peach tree to mature, but it has started producing the most delicious, sweet peaches in the last two years. It surprises many people that we can have peaches in Kentucky, especially since most peaches come from Georgia or South Carolina (I am personally a huge fan of South Carolina peaches).
Between our homegrown peaches and purchasing peaches from local farms, we have been swarmed with amazing peach recipes. Of course, my husband’s favorite peach recipe is peach cobbler. Usually, I cheat and get a box mix for peach cobbler to save time, but with groceries getting so expensive, I decided we needed to return to more homemade recipes. I don’t know about you guys, but we cannot afford a $3 mix going to nearly $10 (ouch).
My biggest issue with our homemade peach cobbler recipe is that it is incredibly time-consuming and has a lot of ingredients. The entire process usually took nearly two hours with all the ingredients and dumplings, not to mention the mess. It also doesn’t help that we have been redoing the kitchen and preparing for a move, meaning I don’t want a giant mess. Knowing that I needed to find a better solution, I started looking for a simple, homemade peach cobbler recipe that I could make in less than 15 minutes and didn’t leave my kitchen looking like a disaster.
After not having much luck with successful recipes on Pinterest, I asked some friends if they had a good peach cobbler recipe. Thankfully, one of my Facebook friends had a fantastic heirloom peach cobbler recipe. It was easy and inexpensive, and fast to make (preparation is under 15 minutes, and it takes only 45 minutes to bake). After trying the recipe, I couldn’t imagine buying a box mix again. I honestly feel like a fool having used a box mix for years with just how easy this recipe is to prepare. Even out of season, I could see getting peaches just to make this easy peach cobbler recipe for guests.
Want to know something even more shocking? This friend gave me permission to share their family recipe! Once I had their permission, I knew I had to share this delicious peach cobbler recipe for all of you guys. This is truly one of those easy recipes that great for impressing family and guests, as well as being very kid friendly. You can even add your own finishing touches, such as adding some pumpkin spice mix or some cardamom to give a completely different flavor profile.
