Are you considering starting a new hobby? Growing up, I was lucky to have a mom who was an amazing seamstress. There truly wasn’t anything my mom couldn’t sew. I have so many beautiful doll dresses from her and even gorgeous curtains in my living room. When she passed away, I inherited all of her sewing machines, which are far more advanced than my basic sewing machine she gifted me years ago. While I know a bit about sewing, I know I need to brush up, even on the basics, since it has been a very long time. As I was doing some research, a complimentary copy of a new sewing book arrived in the mail – Complete Book of Sewing Techniques by Wendy Gardiner. Once it arrived, I couldn’t wait to start reading!

Complete Book of Sewing Techniques: Our Thoughts
Honestly, I think this is one of the most easy to follow, comprehensive sewing books I have seen. This book is very down to earth and filled with beautiful color images to make sewing approachable for just about anyone. While some of it felt a bit too basic for me (since I grew up sewing) it was a great refresher book for me on some of the things I had totally forgotten about or didn’t realize the technique had a name (one of my biggest issues to date). For someone who is just getting started and knows almost nothing about sewing, this book would be absolutely superb. I would honestly recommend Complete Book of Sewing Techniques to anyone who wants to learn more about sewing at home.

This does look like a good book. I grew up learning how to sew, by myself, nobody showed me and there were no books, just follow the pattern. It would have been nice to have this book back then! I think it is good if you or your kid(s) want to sew, most do better with lessons, and also a book like this.

This is the perfect book for niece. You wanted to make a skirt for her little girl. So she visited her brother in law and he taught her how to sew the basics. Then she traded a woman a hair cut for a older sewing machine. But she really would like this book
Cheryl Rogers says
I think that this book would be ideal for my teenage daughter. She is so creative this would help her to realize her potential with sewing.

I love sewing clothes. I took fashion classes in class. I started from sewing clothes to making patterns on the computer. Then I learned to add shrinkages onto the patterns. So much to learn making clothes. My 8 years old daughter recently learned how to sew by hand. I’m so happy she like sewing.

I sold my sewing machine a few years ago, but I wish I hadn’t. My girls are getting older and I think it would be great for them to learn and for me to learn more! I have so many things I’d love to make!!
