If you have been around Budget Earth for awhile, you know I am someone who focuses quite a bit on my health. While I may not have been the healthiest in my youth, I have been striving to not only lose weight, but increase my overall activity and address my health needs. I have always been reluctant to try most dietary and vitamins supplements since there are so many on the market and they always come in huge containers. Like most people, my husband and I live on a budget, meaning we can't dump $20 – $60 on something we can't guarantee will work.
Like me, you probably also spend quite a bit of time on other blogs – reading articles, tips, recipes, and sometimes even reviews. Even before I started Budget Earth, I was fascinated with the idea of a subscription box. I really wanted to know how they worked, but very few people seemed to actually focus on how they worked – just a quick opinion of how the items worked. Luckily, my curiosity was satisfied when I had a chance to try out the Bulu Box for review through a Tomoson.com. If you were as curious as me about the Bulu Box – I think you will love this review!
Bulu Box: What Is It & How It Works
For those who haven't heard of this subscription box, the Bulu Box is a monthly subscription box that sends a sample of different vitamins, supplements, and health products. They advertise themselves as the best way to discover vitamins, health supplements, and different healthy products. The whole goal of this box is to introduce you to different products that will help you feel amazing. Within each box, you will find four to five different samples of premium products. While they aren't full size products, they give you a taste or general idea about the product to see if it's a good fit for you.
As well, the Bulu box doesn't charge you shipping or extra fees, allowing you to have new products right at your door for as little as $10 a month. What also intrigued me about the Bulu box is that you have the potential to get full sized products by turning in points you get for being part of their community, which includes reviewing products, sharing them through social media, and doing short surveys. Since these products are designed to be for men and women, you can get a full spectrum of reviews that allow you to see what other thought of products – including products from Bulu boxes you didn't personally receive.

If you are one of my Youtube subscribers, you probably saw my teaser for the March Bulu Box. My first box was actually unique since it contained items not only for the traditional Bulu Box, but their new weight loss supplement box. I will be honest, I was pretty hyped up about this box. I really wanted to try a subscription box and I was anxiously watching the mailbox. When it arrived, I was happy to find the follow products.

Before I go any further, I want to make it very clear to everyone that some of the items in this box I loved, while others I couldn't find a positive thing to say about them. The purpose of the Bulu Box is not to give everyone products they will love, but allow you to experiment with a wide range of products without spending a huge amount of money buying full size bottles.

I have heard quite a few people online rave about this product. Many bloggers have said it really helped their exercise routine. In the advertisement that came with my Bulu box, it claimed it could bring your workout to the next level by giving your body the extra nutrients it needs.
Like many exercise supplements, you mix this supplement in water and take it 20 to 30 minutes before your working. I can't tell you how well it is for working out since I couldn't get past the taste. The fruit punch flavor was so artificial that it tasted nothing like fruit punch. It tasted more like chalky tutti frutti flavor. I tried drinking it and eventually had to just give up because the texture and taste turned my stomach. Based on the taste and texture alone – I was very disappointed in this product. Since I could not test its effects as an exericse supplement, however, I can't give it a fair review.
Bulu Box AeroShot Energy
I'll be honest, I probably should have contacted Bulu Box about this sample. I'm pretty certain my AeroShot Energy shot was a dud that came from the manufacturer. It just won't shoot and doesn't seem to have any air in it. I played with it for about a half hour and eventually gave up. For this reason, I am going to be fair to AeroShot Energy and not give a review of this product.

While the Bulu Box itself had mix results when it came to products, I think it did exactly what it was meant to do – allow me to try a variety of products without spending much money. While I got mine for free, I think it is a great value! I am seriously considering signing up for a membership box myself since I enjoyed my first so much. As for my own personal rating system, I give it an A – its a great value for those of us on a budget and introduces everyone to some amazing products!

I agree. I try to keep us on a tight budget and am always afraid to try new products for that reason – I don’t want to waste the money. I think the concept is pretty spiffy!
Great review, liked the videos. I have no idea what I'd do with a few of those items either. Do you plan on reviewing several types of boxes, not just the Bulu? I've seen ones for cosmetics, gourmet food, clothing, kids' activities — they seem really attractive but my frugal self isn't so sure about buying a $25+ 'surprise' that I may or may not like every month.
That has been my issues with a lot of the subscription boxes. Part of me likes to be ‘surprised’, but a cynical part of me wants to know how much money they are making off of me. I liked Bulu since the products are high quality and it doesn’t break the bank ($5 a month is a cup of coffee when I’m on long drives every other week). I want people to show me WHY their box is amazing, not just tell me why. As you saw from the videos, I’m not afraid to say exactly what I think about a product. If something works and will improve my life though, I will work it into my family’s budget.
As for reviewing other subscription boxes, I’m hoping to in the future and trying to get a list of boxes together that look like they may be worthwhile. Are there any specific ones you are interseted in learning about? I think some companies though are scared off by my honesty. In my opinion, that says enough about their products 😉
I am a subscriber of the Conscious Box, and a Beauty Box, (which I have tried plenty), and I got a Crave Box this past Month and I also tried the Julep Box, but the only one that I love is the Conscious Box, but I will keep this one in mind. Thank you for the review!

I did not know about this service – I am not much for subscribing to things but the items in the box seem to be of high quality and very different so it gives you a variety of products to try. I will think about placing an order.

Yeah, there are a lot of scammy ones out there. Its why I have avoided them. This one though really surprised me. I enjoyed this enough that I bought a six month subscription after my free box (same price you guys get it, not anything special because I’m a blogger).

i was wondering about this service. I love all that came in that box, especially since it is allgeared towards "health". I would love to try the weight loss one!
Actually, I am going to be going over that one in May. I subscribed to the the weight loss one for 6 months (paid for it, not a blogger promotion) and can’t wait to get it. Seems worth a shot for $5 a month 🙂
I think they can be worth it or it could be a waste – I have tried ones for new moms – and some of the items, like you, I really like and others I try and throw away. I have gotten good discounts on some of it and I like the fact that you can write reviews and share with others and the company, but if your baby grows and the items don't then you have to cancel it, especially if you don't have any more kids. I am not sure I would use this one, since I have dietary restrictions, but this is a good idea and the price is not too bad. Thanks for the review.
I didn’t know this until I subscribed after I wrote this review but they do work around dietary restrictions. You tell them during sign up if you are on a paleo diet, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc. I don’t know why they don’t make a big deal about this on their website. I should add this to my review.Â
I got a Bulu box and had hubby try it out. He used the dream water and felt it worked for him. Most of out items were natural cold and flu items and he didn't use any of it yet. Overall its a cool idea.

I love subscription boxes! I am, however, a reluctant user of vitamins and supplements (other than those I get naturally by eating a healthy diet). I used to subscribe to the Klutchbox but canceled my subscription due to too many of these. However, I've found my love in other subscription boxes, like healthy foods. 🙂

I've been seeing a lot about subscription boxes lately but hadn't heard of this one yet, it is definitely the lowest cost one, and looks like it would be worth their initial offer which is generous. Not sure just how much I'd use this particular one but am glad to see it reviewed! Thanks!
I been seeing so many subscription boxes of all sort lately online but this is the first one I seen that has this type of thing in them. So are alittle bit pricey but this one is reasonable. But for me on a fixed income it would be hard to do this. Thanks for telling us about this one

I have received a couple of boxes that I won and have been disapointed that most of the product where samples that they company got free. I'm not going to pay to get samples that they give out free. I wouldn't pay for a subscription to one of these services,
Some of the services are samples, some are full products. The other way to look at it is that subscription boxes are mostly filled with products from small companies. Many of these companies can’t afford to give out free samples. Its usually a perk we get from big companies.
I think subscription boxes are a great way to try new products as long as they offer a lot of products to try. Even when you get products you don't like at least you know now to avoid them. I love seeing reviews like these because some of the boxes it is unclear what types of things you'll get but the Bulu looks pretty neat. I may consider signing up at one point.

Like you i live on a small budget and don't really sign up to anything that will take money from my account every month because you never no what will come up and tou need that money but cannot use it don't get me wrong i have my bills come out auto just don't need another but the system use talk about sounds like a good deal for those the can afford to have 10 come out each month
Right now to try it out I paid for one of their gift services that is 6 months and that’s it for 5 months. It sounds like a spiffy deal but I’m not sure if I will be able to afford it long term. We will see 🙂
I am a Bulu Box subscriber. I like i OK – the problem is that with supplment samples, you cannot really tell if they are effective or not because there aren't enough. However, I have received some items that I now depend upon, including a homeopathic sinus remedy. I never would have tried it unless I had Bulu Box, and that one alone is worth a year's cost! And the price is great so i t is a cost-effective "gift that keeps on giving" (right, Clark?! :-)) for ME every month.
I have to agree! Some of the supplement are a bit tiny but once you find something great in the box its worth it!
Interesting, might be better if they let you choose a focus for the box (weight loss, body building, vitamins, ect.) There is a lot in that box that I would never use.
You can choose either a vitamin or weight loss box. I am currently subscribed to the weight loss box. It came out the same month I did my review 🙂

I am sure they are worth it for some. I myself prefer not to subscribe to anything…I like to see/touch/taste by myself.
IMHO.I think that this kind of box is sort of a ripoff.Supplements have to be taken for at least 1 to 2 weeks before you can actually tell wether they really work for you or not.These samples don't provide you with enough samples to know if they will actually work,although taste certainly would play an important factor in my book.
Some of the samples are better than others. Sometimes they are supplements, others energy drinks, candies, food, etc. Its different things each month. The ones that are just one use though are not as useful in evaluating, you are right!
I've never subscribed to any boxes before. They seem to be quite popular right now. Give me a monthly jewelry candle box and I'm in!
I have not heard of a subscription box. I find it very interesting that you get to try out different products. Not sure how you can find out if you like a product from just a sample though. That is just me. Really enjoyed your review and videos. Luck your honesty. I am guessing this is just for U.S.
I love the idea of subscription boxes. I just can't bring myself to spend the money on something that I have no idea I will get. Maybe I'll work up the courage soon.

I like the idea of subscription boxes in general, but I doubt I woulod get one that is health products and suppliments. There are things I have no need to take, so I would have no use for samples.
Quite a variety of products you received. Subscription boxes look like fun and a great way to try new things. I had never even heard of Pineapple water before.

I tried out the Bulu box in it's early stages so I didn't think it was worth it, and I'm allergic to any diet pill ever made. The athletic wipes were pretty good, though. It's a hit or miss with these types of boxes.
Yes, the boxes are very hit or miss. I have had some good boxes with Bulu and some that were so so.

I'd rather find products through my doctor or chiropractor than play Russian roulette with this kind of products.
I personally avoid a lot of the stuff recommended by doctors in their office. They usually get a cut from the company, which makes them a bit biased, IMO.
I too would prefer to choose my own items, but for many this would be a good thing.
