How many of you like summer? In our household summer isn’t the best of seasons since my husband and I both despise the heat. Part of what makes it worse is that we both work (and game) from home in our home office, which has multiple computers constantly running. While we had always thought our room was a little on the warm side, we didn’t realize just how bad it was until we checked the temperature in the room in early July. It was 83 degrees! No wonder Reya wanted nothing to do with us while we were in the office! Even though we had fans running in the room, it didn’t seem to put a dent in our issue, meaning we had to look at other solutions. At first, we seriously considered putting in a window air conditioner unit. This was quickly vetoed after we considered the impact on the curb appeal of our home. Just as we were about to give up, Honeywell approached us, asking if we would review one of their Portable Air Conditioners.
Honestly, I had never seen a portable air conditioner and was unsure how exactly it would work. After watching some videos online, however, my husband and I both realized this could easily be the solution to all of our heat issues! To our delight, Honeywell shipped one of their larger units for us, perfect for the size of our office. Once it arrived, we couldn’t wait to hook it up and see the results.

Before I go any further, I have to say that everyone in our house thinks our Honeywell portable air conditioner is the best thing ever. For the first time since we moved up to our new office, Reya is staying with us and actually wanting to hang out with the humans now that it is comfortably 70, rather than in the 80’s in our office. What amazed me, personally, was just how easy it was to install. When my husband took it upstairs, I thought it would take a half hour or so, not as long as it took me to get a cup of coffee downstairs.
Since we have so many computers running at once, we regularly keep the unit going, keeping our room at an awesome 68 degree throughout the summer without having the lower the temperature of the rest of the house. We also found the unit is very eco-friendly since, with the central AC straining less, our overall electricity bill has gone down rather than up! Really, I don’t think we could be happier, and am hoping that we can at some point get one of these units for our master bedroom. Based on our own experience, we are delighted to give the Honeywell MN12CESWW Portable Air Conditioner an A+ rating!

I had no idea that Honeywell had such a wide range of models. You can literally choose your model by room size, the insulation of the room, if the sun hits it, etc. Amazing!
I really need one of these. We only have a swamp cooler and I live in central California where triple digit temperatures are the norm in the summer. I really like how the water is evaporated and you don’t have to dump buckets of water.
Before reading this article, I wasn’t aware of a portable air conditioning unit..This would be ideal for our house. We have a two level home and only use the lower level.The house has nine rooms, it really is a waste of money to cool the whole house when we don’t use the rooms.

This is awesome! We have two bedrooms in the back of the house that get stuffy, even with central air and ceiling fans. The way our ducts were put together, they have little airflow. This would be wonderful for those rooms.
I like that Honeywell Portable Air Conditioners automatically evaporate moisture and the hot air, which are directed out of the cooled space using a hot air discharge or exhaust hose. Great makest easyer to use.

Our AC is on it last legs, but my husband refuses to let us lower the thermostat. This would be a big help to keep us (kids and critters!) cool in this Southern heat. And I love the fact it is quiet and has a remote.
This sounds like this would work well., I am happy that it evaporates the moisture so you don’t need to keep a bucket under it. I hate having to keep emptying heavy water buckets.

I think its a great idea to add it into an area that stays warmer when you have your central air on. We have an upstairs bedroom that always seems hot even when the air has cooled off the rest of the house and this unit would work great there!

I love that this unit has a water evaporation component! Our portable AC creates pails of water that need to be emptied. 🙁 it’s just inconvenient. I didn’t even realize this technology was out there!
These air conditioners are awesome. They are light enough for me to move around without my husband’s help. I can bring it into the living room during the summer, and tuck it away neatly in the basement for the other seasons.
This air conditioner is quite impressive! I love that it does not require window mounting because we have older style windows in our bedroom that would not allow for a regular unit.

I love how easy they are to use, and the remote control feature. I also love how it is also a humidifier and that there are no buckets to empty.

What a great machine, I love honeywell, I own a air filter through them, So I do know how there product is, I think they are one of the best for making such a product such as this one. I have never seen this before, definitely needs another look and for what it does for you , your home and pets its wonderful..
Very nice to hear that your cooling bill didn’t go up after using this. We always struggle with trying to balance the temperature / shut off vents, etc. so our bill doesn’t go through the roof. We really only need two rooms cooled, but it seems our cooling vents are primed for the areas we DON’T need!
The great thing about these is that you don’t have to use the energy to cool the entire house. For us in SoCal it makes a big difference.

This Honeywell Portable Air Conditioner sounds awesome and my family could really use this! We have a lot of devices running in our household such as laptops & t.v.s and I love the fact that it doesn’t take very long to cool a room. I also love how it has an auto shut-off feature and that it has a water evaporation component so that you don’t have to empty the water!
My bedroom is like a sauna it is so hot and humid. I really like that the Honeywell Portable Air Conditioners has a remote so I can change the temperature without having to get out of bed. If it’s to hot I can crank it up and come early hours if it has cooled off to much I can turn it down and not leave the comfort of my bed so I can go right back to sleep.

I have used portable units before and they work suprisingly well. Perfect solution for that front room with the sun beating in through the front window. I love that the Honeywell units evaporate the water removed from the air instead of having to empty out a water tray!

I really need one of these. We have one room, my daughter’s room upstairs, that just doesn’t get cool in the summer. It gets afternoon sun and we’ve tried everything. The rest of the house has to stay chilly so we can try and get her room cool. Looks like a great device and I love the remote control. I just wish it didn’t cost so much.

I am putting this in my son’s room. That side of the home gets so hot in the afternoon. It’s fully exposed.

The dog looks pretty happy with this A/C. My chow would love it too! This type of AC would be a good solution for our home with large bay windows and small windows on the side (they don’t allow for standard in the window type a/c).

Wonderful Review!! This would really work well in our trailer! It sounds really great because we need a dehumidifier, and air conditioner! I like that it also comes on wheels. I have a bad arm that MIGHT have to require surgery so it would be a big plus! The biggest plus of all would be on saving money on energy cost!!
In Texas this is a excellent addition to rooms that need the extra oomph. Also as a hospice nurse this is something that family members can purchase (and reuse) to help keep the patient comfortable especially to alleviate medical fevers. I am impressed that these work so well!

I unlike you love this weather but I hate being too hot in my house. I love that this air conditioner actually helped make your electric bill go down. Mine on the other hand makes mine go way up. I love that it has a remote, dehumidifier, and fan. It has everything I would need or want in an air conditioner. Next season I am going to have to look into getting one as right now I only have a small unit in my bedroom and window fans in the other rooms. My kitchen is very hot while cooking but I most cook on the grill or crock pot during the summer to cut down on the “heat” in the kitchen. Thank you for the great review.
This product really looks like a good product. I would like to buy this so I have a portable air conditioner to help keep some of the rooms that get really warm from getting too hot like the bedroom. It can get uncomfortable when it is really hot outside.

I’m one of those people who love to sleep in a really cool room but hate to use the central a/c to cool the whole house as low as I like. This unit would be wonderful to have for use just in the bedroom. My budget would benefit too!

I learned that the filters are reusable and washable. I also love that the Honeywell A/C has an automatic cut off and that it also has a remote control with it. I live in Florida so between the extreme temperatures and high humidity on a daily basis and even though I have central air throughout my home, having a portable air conditioner would be a tremendous help, especially in the garage where we do not have a/c! I could take it to any room in the house and benefit from it being cooler and it would take the excess moisture out of the air. A portable air conditioner is a must for the Florida home and lifestyle.
I love how this is so portable. I also like the idea of cooling only what you need. We dont have central air andd use widow air conditioners one upstairs ad one downstairs. Many of the rooms stay too hot, this would be ideal.
I really love the fact that I can move it room to room which is a bonus in itself. The size also is nice, not too big but enough to provide adequate cooling. Based on your review, the unit including the remote control is rated very high in performance and convenience. I give a thumbs up on the system in general.
My father-in-law is elderly and can no longer set the window air conditioner up each year. This would be great to leave the window insert in place and simply roll the a/c into place when needed.
I have the one wall AC unit in my apartment but that is in the living room and not in the bedroom; I’d love to have a portable AC to use in my bedroom. Honeywell makes great products; I know someone who has a Honeywell home security alarm system and she’s been very happy with it!

Way Cool. I was pretty much unaware of this product (line) We lbought (live in) a very very vintage brick home (over 100 years old, three stories, tall ceiling, big odd sized windows (lots) with broken sashes and NO – it does not have central air ~ but it needs everything so A/C is not even near being in the budget.
We try to do as much work on it ourselves as we possibly can ~ but during the dog days of summer, it is truly miserable. This Honeywell Portable A/C unit is really AWESOME.
The more I learn the more I think this could actually pay for itself in increase/enhanced PRODUCTIVITY on our part. Being able to move it into whatever room we need it in – during work or play would make such a difference – and SLEEP ~ quality would go way up too.
