Like many dog parents, I go out of my way to make sure that Reya has the best natural food out there. Nutrition is very important to me since I want to make sure my malamute lives as long as possible, and that most vet visits are nothing more than a checkup. Like most malamutes, she is very active. If she had her way, we would be romping through forests, exploring our creek, pouncing on snow, and having grand adventures where she runs free daily. As an owner of a very active large dog, I have had a hard time finding a nutritious food that meets her dietary needs and doesn’t rely on some kind of fillers. To my delight, I recently heard of a natural food that sounds like it would be perfect for our dog – Wild Calling!®
- no corn
- no soy
- no wheat
- no gluten
- no chicken
- no egg
- no brewer’s yeast
- Superfood Fruits & Veggies
- Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids
- Vitamin C& E
- Prebiotic & Probiotics
- Antibiotic & hormone free meats, poultry, & fish
While that may not sound too impressive on its own, how they have made themselves innovative is truly amazing. They understand that dogs are hunters and scavengers. They want variety and nutrition that comes with hunting for food in nature. Like us, many dogs want different food every day. For this reason, each of Wild Calling’s foods is designed to be rotated with their others, giving several high quality proteins to make sure your dog has a variety of different foods that meet their nutritional needs. They also believe that a dog diet rich in meat and protein supports healthy muscle growth, increased energy, and an overall healthy dog at different life stages.
As well, their food has GlycoEdge, which is designed to prove your dog with consistent energy and a low glycemic diet. This part of their formula is from tapioca, sweet potatoes, and lentils. Overall, their food is designed with the “science” of the beauty and the love we have for our pets, which is what they call the “Art of Nutrition.” To learn more about it, check out the brochure below. We found it to be very educational!
Overall, their Art of Nutrition and real, honest food means that my dog will be happy and healthy. What pet owner doesn’t want that? I’m excited that in the coming months, Reya is going to be trying Wild Calling! and we will see if this is the right food for our active malamute. Their focus on putting pets first and creating a story rather than a sales strategy seems perfect to me and my family. As long as I can keep waking up to that beautiful, healthy smile, I know I’m doing the right thing for Reya.

Kim says
I am planning on getting a puppy soon and will have to try this food with it.
Denise N. says
I think people forget to look at the ingredient list of their pets food, as they would their own food. Yes, quality dog food is more expensive, but families need to consider this when welcoming a new four legged friend into the family. Love the pictures!
Susan Bewley says
Thank you, Denise! I also found that if you sit down and do the math, it is less money going natural. The higher calorie content per serving also means they eat less. Like what I explained to one of my friends, which will fill you up faster, a packet of ramen or a steak with veggies. One is cheaper but nutrition wise there is no contest!
Natalie says
I will have to try this for my furbaby
lisa says
Oh, that’s a malamute.I keep telling my husband that I want one of these dogs. I know it’s out of the question. We do have a fenced in yard but it’s not really large enough for an animal of that size.

Thanks so much for the fantastic Review on Making Dogs Healthy with Wild Calling! & their #TheArtofNutrition! I love Reya! She is so pretty and small for a malamute! We had a Siberian husky named Keisha! She was such a good girl! We sure miss her! I now have 2 of the pickiest little Shih Tzu’s that anyone has ever seen! If I put something new, food wise, down for them, they smell it turn their noses and look at me as if to say, What the heck do you want us to eat now! I feed them Purina One Smart Blend and they seem to like this one! Thanks so much for the fantastic review and all the wonderful information you have shared with us on Making Dogs Healthy with Wild Calling! I’d like to get a sample of this in order to see if it would be worth purchasing because of how picky they are! Thanks again, Michele 🙂
Susan Bewley says
Reya is actually standard sized, oddly enough. I don’t know if I could handle one of the giant malamutes. 🙂

kerri hughes says
I always feed my dogs the same brand of dog food, they say if you change their food too much it’s hard on their tummies.
Susan Bewley says
That is actually a myth. Dogs are scavengers by nature. What actually makes them sick in the case of a food change is usually a switch after a long stretch of the same diet – just like in humans, their microbiome (healthy, normal gut bacteria) adjusts somewhat to try and get all it can from their food, and often the dog will have some nutrient deficiency (try and find a single food that would provide EVERYTHING a human would need to stay properly fed, it’s not easy to do). In these cases – and pretty much ONLY these cases, a dog with a varied diet is not as susceptible to this – unless a new food is slowly worked in, a sudden change can cause bacteria that were not as active to rapidly grow in population, and cause intestinal pain, diarrhea, etc. Otherwise, if a dog has an upset tummy it’s often a sign of other issues.
Linda Manns Linneman says
Our dogs are so important to us. I appreciate you sharing this great product
Jaime B says
This sounds like a very good food. Unfortunately, I can’t afford the pricetag on the natural foods but I enjoy seeing reviews of new products.
lisa says
I like dogs but have always been more of a cat person. They’re a bit easier (for me) to care for. When I had my last cat I found some treats that he loved. All I had to do was shake the bag and he came running and purring up a storm.
Coco says
Thanks you for sharing. What a beautiful dog.
