This looks delicious. There’s nothing like a hot bowl of beef stew on a cold day. It’s perfect for people like me that rarely eat vegetables. I enjoy them in stew.I’ve found an excellent broth substitute. It’s called better than beef. It’s a concentrated base, you add water to. Very flavorful.

Sounds like a good recipe. Personally I would up the onion content and maybe cut it in sections instead of chopping it, but that is more of a personal preference.

Thanks so much for the recipe on Old Fashion Beef Stew! I love making Vegetable Soup or Beef Stew when it’s cold outside! Since my husband has been sick again and waiting for surgery, he hasn’t been working again. We went through a different illness in the summer where he didn’t work for months and months! Both of us are disabled and on a fixed income. The part-time job he has helps us with groceries and extras. We had a terrible time with the first illness and surgery trying to pay the bills and keep up. He was only back at work for 2 months before this one struck! I guess what I’m trying to tell you is it’s hard for us to get groceries in the house these days. We’ve been getting through with hot meals, but, they are nothing like we are all used to! I haven’t had the “meat” to make beef stew or beef pot pie. We’ve been living off of spaghetti and an awful lot of canned goods. I’ve been able to get some ground meat here and there to make meatloaf and I did make Chili once already. I just love making nice hot homemade soups and stews this time of year! I really love your recipe for the Old Fashion Beef stew. I have it printed out and will use it once I can get a nice piece of meat to make it with! I really do appreciate your sharing your recipe with all of us! It looks and sounds delicious! I can’t wait to try it!!! Thanks so very much, Michele 🙂
