Does your family do anything special for Halloween? Growing up, we enjoyed trick-or-treating and some decorations, but we didn’t do much for the holiday. When it came to food, though, we really didn’t do anything special. My mother wasn’t didn’t really think it was worth doing anything special, other than dressing up. As an adult, I am the exact opposite. My husband and I both decorate the house and do quite a bit to make cheerful for the kids in the neighborhood. In our neighborhood, the adults have their own little get together while kids trick or treat. Having a BBQ for adults and having themed treats for adults ranging from cupcakes to Halloween themed hot dogs. I had always thought it was adorable and an excellent way for the community to meet one another.
Of course, we want to have some fun dishes to bring for the normal spooky gathering. Since almost everyone brings something sweet, we decided it was better to try bringing food that was savory, fun, and great for giving kids energy that wasn’t filled with more sugar. Most adults especially love cute Halloween food that brings out their inner kid, allowing everyone to get the perfect holiday spirit! As well, everyone seems to really be enjoying more families moving to the neighborhood. Halloween has been a reminder that everyone needs to keep in touch with one another, especially after everything that happened with COVID and us losing some well-loved older neighbors.
Finding unique recipes for these sorts of gatherings can be a bit tricky. Luckily, I know many fantastic food bloggers who are happy to bring out their creative side. They were just as excited for us to work together to share some of their favorite spooky treats for holiday gatherings!
