Are you someone who loves a good waffle recipe? I will freely admit, I love when my husband surprises me with waffles. While I do a lot of cooking and baking in our household, there are quite a few things he makes that are his specialties. Of course, you all know about his amazing cheesecake recipe, but did you know he is great at making waffles too? Even when he uses box mixes, he doctors them up into something amazing (though, he usually makes them from scratch when we have visitors, due to his dad’s corn allergy). With how much we love waffles though, I was intrigued when I found that cooking with waffles and using them to make various dishes is quickly becoming a thing in the culinary world. When I was asked if I would be willing to review 150 Waffle Maker Recipes: From Sweet to Savory by Marilyn Haugen and Jennifer Mackenzie, I knew I had to read and learn more about this new craze!
150 Waffle Maker Recipes: From Sweet to Savory: What Is It?
Looking for a fun and unique cookbook to add to your collection? If so, we think you will love 150 Waffle Maker Recipes: From Sweet to Savory. Here is what the publisher has to say about this new cookbook:
Now home cooks can enjoy scrumptious restaurant-quality sweet and savory waffles.
To say that waffles are enjoying a moment is an understatement. The Waffle House sells 145 waffles per minute – 877 million waffles and counting since they opened – and almost 10 percent of North Americans eat waffles at least once a week. But the really hot trend in waffles is taking the experience beyond breakfast to create savory sandwich-style meals for lunch, dinner and beyond. If the lineups outside waffles-only restaurants are any indication, waffles are here to stay in a big way.
As bestselling authors and highly respected recipe developers, Marilyn and Jennifer have created 150 delightfully delicious and inspired waffle recipes, from the classics and delectable breakfast and brunch options to snacks and light bites, grab-and-go burgers and sandwiches, main dishes for one or two, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free waffles, and tantalizing desserts and treats.
Breakfast dishes such as hearty Huevos Rancheros with Cornmeal Waffles or the indulgent Pumpkin Spice Waffles with Coconut Cream are guaranteed to get anyone’s day off to a perfect start, but if you’re ready to take it up a notch, try innovative options like Pico de Gallo Chicken Quesadillas, Black Bean Burgers with Creamy Avocado or a Club Wafflewich – a club sandwich taken to all-new heights.
Throughout the book, Marilyn and Jennifer offer up ingenious tips and techniques that will have you making waffles like a pro in the same time it would take you to go out to a restaurant!

What a great array of waffles. My husband loves waffles and this would have a lot of ideas for him for other than breakfast.

The idea of Tandoori Style Chicken in waffle form is intriguing. I recently read a recipe for adding ham and cheese in making waffles in a way that results in almost a cheese frico outside, and I’ve been dying to try making waffles out of leftover stuffing (first I have to make stuffing!).

Wow, sounds like it has some great recipes. I just got a Belgium waffle maker a few months ago. Does this book have recipes that would work for that or are they made for a regular waffle maker. I would love to find some savory recipes to try. I would love something I could make for my dogs, too.

We love waffles but only have them for breakfast/brunch or as a desert. I would never had thought to use the waffle as a sandwich. The recipes sound great. Thank you for the delicious Sweet to Savory Cookbook review.

I love going out for waffles and do make them at home but at home I have only made plain old waffles. Now I can make different ones and have them for lunch or dinner.
