Have you ever helped pick out a kid’s birthday cake or got one for your own kids? Most of the time, many of us are tempted to go to our local grocery store and pick out an overpriced cake with the child’s favorite character. While kids may be excited about these cakes, they’re usually not worth the price since the entire cake tastes well…flat and too sweet. Many parents don’t realize that many of these cute cakes are easy to make at home, or just as easy to make something just as cute in your own kitchen. All you need is a recipe, an idea, and the time to prepare it!

What great ideas these are!I made cakes for my kids when they were younger,some worked some didn’t.I am going to try the Fondant Doll for my grand daughter.It looks about my speed!

I love #8 and the directions seem pretty easy. I like that it is made from box cake and you concentrate on assembly not a bunch of ingredients.

This post takes me way back. I really like the ideas centered around the Despicable Me theme. Growing up, I had a lot of younger cousins and was called upon often to decorate birthday cakes. I did the doll’s dress cake for the girls. For the boys, I decorated the trimmed cake to resemble a baseball or sometimes an igloo.
I like the rainbow layer cake because it looks so cheerful.
I simply love the Minions cake! My kids both loved the movies and we were at Universal Studios in Florida in March and rode the ride.

We made number 8 for our kids birthday this year and it was very easy to make and turned out to be quite tasty. Someone did a great job making those minion cupcakes as they look awesome.
